The All-Ukrainian trade union protest action, timed to coincide with the World Day for Decent Work, is taking place in Kyiv today, October 17. According to The Journalist correspondent, it was announced that 20 thousand participants will take part in the protest action, but the organizers note that about 30 thousand people have gathered for the rally.
Participants of the march passed to the building of the Cabinet of Ministers and soon will go to the Verkhovna Rada, demanding to increase the salaries and pensions for Ukrainians.
Note that among the basic requirements of the trade unions there are demands to raise the subsistence minimum to UAH 5167, the minimum wage up to UAH 7700 and the minimum pension up to UAH 2840. In addition, protesters demand to stop the rise in gas prices, and also to pay off all wage arrears as well as to provide funding for vital areas for the next year.
As The Journalist reported, the trade unions would block the Kyiv downtown, demanding an increase in salaries and pensions.
