Starting from October 1st, the state-owned company Ukrzaliznytsia has launched a container train in the route Odessa-Port – Kyiv—Liski, which will run once a week. This was reported by the press service of the state-owned company, citing the Acting Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Yevhen Kravtsov.
«Among the advantages of transporting containers by container train is a reduction of time of cargo deliverance as well as the costs of transportation. The duration of cargo delivery is less than a day, and the cost of transporting is less by 15%,» – Mr Kravtsov told.
According to him, thanks to the improvement of services it became possible to increase the share of this type of rail transport compared to road one.
Kravtsov also added that there was not only a boom in new container train routes in 2018, but also a general increase in container traffic.
As The Journalist reported, European Investment Bank could issue EUR 50 mln loan for Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukravtodor transport projects.
