Struggle to provide the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Tomos for autocephaly is a matter of national security, so acting in this situation is not a right, but the responsibility of president.

Press secretary of President of Ukraine Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote about this on his Facebook page in response to news of a lawsuit filed by a public organization against President of Ukraine Peter Poroshenko with a request to establish the lack of authority to contact Bartholomew for the provision of Tomos to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

«I see that Russia cannot accept the right of Ukrainians to their own Church. Already claims in court have appeared. In this regard, we want to say: the struggle for Tomos about autocephaly is in the national interest and is a matter of national security. In such a situation, it is not a right, but the duty of the president to act. But inaction would be a real crime, for which it stands and should have been tried», the speaker said.

As The Journalist reported, the public organization «The Rule of Law» is suing Poroshenko because of Tomos.
