The National Television and Radio Council has halted the broadcasting of the RTVI channel in Ukraine for half a year for violations of the national legislation regarding the demonstration of TVproducts, that popularized or propagated the aggressor state, as well as with the participation of persons who had been included to the list of persons posing a threat to the national security of Ukraine.

«For systematic violations of Ukrainian legislation, the National Council has stopped [temporarily, for a six months period] the retransmission of the RTVI TV channel in Ukraine. The relevant decision to amend the list of foreign programs, which content meets the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and Ukrainian legislation, was adopted by the National Council on September 6,» – the press service of the regulator said.

It is noted that since the RTVI channel is under the Great Britain jurisdiction, the National Council will inform the UK regulator in the sphere of TV and radio broadcasting about the relevant decision.

Reportedly, during the monitoring of the RTVI television channel, that was held from February 2, 2017 to August 26, 2018, the violations of the current Ukrainian legislation were repeatedly recorded in its broadcast.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine switched off the analog television despite the ban on the court.
