Due to exceeding the limits of the concentration of sulfurous anhydride in the atmosphere above normal level, it was decided to stop the plant for fourteen days. This was told by the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the annexed Crimea, Serhiy Aksenov on Facebook.
«On August 23, an unpleasant smell appeared in the Armyansk, the locals complained of a tickling in the throat, irritation of the nasal mucosa. From the 23rd day, the corresponding services checked air, water and soil daily,» – reported Aksenov.
The report notes that the permissible norm of sulfur dioxide concentration has been exceeded for the first time. This was the main reason for the decision to stop production at the plant for two weeks.
In addition, according to Aksenov, for preventive purposes, in schools and kindergartens of Armyansk was announced two week vacation. He assured that the life and health of citizens is not in danger. There are no grounds for introducing an emergency regime.
As The Journalist reported earlier, children started to get sick in Crimea because of chemical emissions.
