According to publication Arthaus Traffic Sergei Loznitsa’s «Donbass» officially won national selection of applicant for Oscar award. The film will compete in Best film in foreign language nomination.
Among other participants in film selection, Ukrainian Oscar Committee reviewed such films: Volodymyr Tikho’s Brahma, Roman Bondarchuk’s The Volcano, Maryssya Nikityuk’s When the Trees Fall, Myth by Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasnyi, and Cyborgs by Akhtem Seitablayev.
«Donbass» is result of work of specialists in field of film production of five countries. Recall, to participate in creation of film Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands, France and Romania were joined. Movie was filmed in Kryvyi Rih.
«Drama tells about events in East of Ukraine and watches over life in self-proclaimed republics, where the line between truth and fiction is blurred, social institutions are being destroyed», message says.
From October 18th, 2018 film will be screened in cinemas – «Donbass» will be released in wide Ukrainian production.
As previously reported by The Journalist, in Canada at International Festival film «Donbass» by Sergei Loznitsa will be presented. It is noted that, as part of Toronto International Film Festival, film will be screened in Contemporary World Cinema section.
