Ukrainian scientists believe that in the coming years the notion of climatic winter will disappear in Ukraine. This was reported by one of the authors of the study, a member of the intergovernmental group of experts on climate change, Svitlana Krakovskaya, Fakty news agency reported.
The climatologist believes that forests in Ukraine will almost completely disappear by the end of the 21st century. In addition, the term «climatic winter» will soon disappear in Ukraine too.
«There is such scientific term as climatic winter. It occurs when the average daily temperature drops below zero. So, in the middle of this century there will be no winter in the south part of Ukraine,» – the expert said.
The climatologist drew attention to the fact that the largest desert in Europe is already in the Kherson region – Oleshky Sands, and if nothing to be done with it, the desert’s territory will increase.
As The Journalist reported earlier, the summer weather will continue until mid-September in Ukraine.
