The Association «High-speed Rail Lines» proposes to build a high-speed railway from China to Europe via Ukraine. This is reported by the Center for Transport Strategies.
The report notes that the project was presented in Kiev on August 15 at the conference «High-speed railway and transit potential under the Belt and Road Initiative.» It involves the construction of the modern Silk Road. At this stage, this is only a concept that has no agreements yet.
It is assumed that the high-speed railway line will connect China with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Poland. Its total length should be 5,100 km long; high-speed communication will be carried out for both freight and passenger transport. The project cost estimates at USD 23 billion, and its implementation will take at least seven years.
It is noted that this concept requires a feasibility study. For this purpose, the organization plans to appeal to foreign investors, including in China. After, the further fate of the project will become clear.
