Scientists at the University of Lincoln have named several reasons why most domestic cats like to play with boxes.
It turns out that the box can help in the process of adapting the animal in new house.
Researchers found that a tight space allows the animal’s brain to actively allocate the so-called «hormones of happiness» – endorphins. In boxes, cats feel happier and allow reducing the overall level of aggressiveness and tension of the animal.
«At the same time, even the most uncomfortable poses that domestic cats take inside the boxes, allow them to relax and stop worrying», scientists say.
