Militants shelled Ukrainian army positions 22 times over past day: one serviceman was killed

Over the past 24 hours, militants violated the ceasefire 22 times, ten times using weapons proscribed under the Minsk Peace Agreements. The attacks led to one Ukrainian serviceman dying in action, another four were wounded. This is reported by the press center of Ukraine’s Joint Forces Operation (JFO) on Facebook.

«The situation in the zone of the Joint Forces Operation on June 24 remained under control. In the afternoon, Russian occupation forces intensified fire from large-caliber weapons, prohibited by the Minsk agreements. Fire from a tank and infantry fighting vehicles was also recorded», – the message stated.

In the Luhansk sector, the fighting continued near the village of Krymske. In the Donetsk sector the Ukrainian defenders came under aimed fire near the towns of Maryinka Avdiyivka and Kamianka. In the Mariupol sector, the situation was most tense in the village of Vodiane. The Ukrainian positions near the village of Lebedynske were attacked with the use of a tank and 122-mm artillery systems. The enemy was active near the villages of Bohdanivka, Hnutove and Shyrokyne.

As «The Journalist» reported earlier, during the day militants violated ceasefire 20 times, one Ukrainian soldier was wounded.
