Last week, the National Center for Folk Culture “Ivan Gonchar Museum” and the Museum of Books and Book Printing of Ukraine presented a joint project “In the Embrace of an Angel”.
It is reported by the Museum of Books and Book Printing.
“The exhibition is dedicated to the image of an angel in Ukrainian icons, engravings and old-print editions, was created as a result of the creative and scientific cooperation of two museums. The combination of ancient book prints and Ukrainian icons in one exhibition space is not accidental: the plots of icons with images of angels have something in common with similar images on engravings in old books. Often, Ukrainian engraving served as a model for plots and compositions for many icon painters. The exhibition presents rare old-printed books of the 17th and 19th centuries,” the press release of the event reads.
The exhibition will run until May 22, inclusive
