The 140th Special Operations Forces Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was certified as a SOF unit and has the right to be involved in the NATO Response Force, the Ukrainian military portal reports.
According to the publication, for the first time in history, a unit of the country – not a NATO member-state – was able to pass certification as an SOF unit. The decision to apply SOF is taken by the North Atlantic Council only. The forces of the unit are capable to perform forced entry operations. The naval forces play the role of a strike group with an aircraft carrier, land and amphibious groups.
Air forces are capable of making up to 200 daily departures.
