A banknote with a nominal value of UAH 1000 will be put in circulation in October in Ukraine, and 1, 2 and 5 kopecks kopecks will be withdrawn from circulation. This was announced by the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Yakiv Smolii, the press service of the NBU reports.
“1, 2 and 5 kopecks will no longer be considered as payment means in Ukraine and will be withdrawn from circulation on October 1, 2019. A coin with a nominal value of 25 kopecks is also gradually being withdrawn, remaining a means of payment so far,” the report says.
The NBU said that the given coins could still be exchanged for other coins and banknotes during the first year of their market withdrawal. For another two years – until September 30, 2022 – coins can be exchanged at branches of the National Bank and authorized banks (Oschadbank, PrivatBank and Raiffeisen Bank Aval).
The press service reports that a UAH 1000 banknote will be put into circulation in Ukraine from October 25, 2019.
As The Journalist reported, NBU strengthens official Hryvnia exchange rate.
