The State Statistics Service of Ukraine states that the number of older people in Ukraine continues to grow, and young people leave the country. This is the press service of the State Statistics Service informs.
According to the State Statistics Service, the number of the resident population of Ukraine on January 1, 2019 was 41,983,600 people, which is 233,600 less compared to January 1, 2018.
Of these, 69.1% are urban and 30.9% are rural population.
The State Statistics Service notes that among the population of both genders in Ukraine the number of 70-year-olds is 388,285 people, while the number of 19-year-olds is 371,611 people. They also add that structure of the population of Ukraine, by gender, is 53.7% (22,528,300 people) are women and 46.3% (19,455,300 people) are men.
The calculation of the resident population cover all oblasts of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
