Mine worker salary arrears could exceed UAH 1 bln this week – Volynets

The chairman of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the Independent Trade Union of Miners, Mykhailo Volynets, believes that the wage arrears for miners could exceed UAH 1 billion.

To Volynets, the debt will increase by UAH 530 million over the week and exceed UAH 1 billion. As of today, the debt to the miners is UAH 661 million.

“Wage arrears at several dozens of state-owned mines now amount to UAH 661 million, and one week after the elections, the debts will grow by another UAH 530 million and will exceed more than a UAH 1 billion,” the report says.

Note that, according to the Independent Trade Union of Miners, wage arrears for the miners in the state-owned coal mining enterprises amounted to UAH 761.1 million, Ukrinform reports.

As The Journalist reported, Ukrainian miners will lose jobs over closure of unprofitable state coal mines until 2025.
