The sociological rating group conducted a survey among Ukrainians and found that Ukrainian citizens consider President Volodymyr Zelensky the politician of the year 2019, and the event of the year is the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war and other political prisoners from Russian captive.
The majority of respondents (47%) consider Zelensky a politician of the year 2019 in Ukraine.
Sociologists note that 8-10% of the respondents expressed support to Yuriy Boyko, Dmytro Razumkov and Yulia Tymoshenko, and 5-7% respondents expressed support to Petro Poroshenko, Viktor Medvedchuk, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk and Volodymyr Groysman each.
“Zelensky as a politician of the year received the support of all age and regional distribution groups. But Boyko, Medvedchuk, Rabinovich were more often chosen by residents of the south and east parts of Ukraine, Tymoshenko – the center and the west, Poroshenko – the west parts of Ukraine,” the survey said.
Also, Ukrainians consider the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war and other political prisoners (48%), as well as the election of the President of Ukraine (44%) the main events of the year.
In addition, one in five respondents considers the resumption of negotiations on the situation in Donbas in “Normandy format” (Ukraine, Russia, Germany, France) as the main event of the year.
Some 15% of respondents considers the main events the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, 13% – Ukraine’s national football team entering the final of the 2020 European Football Championship, one in ten – strengthening the hryvnia.
