Ukraine International Airlines has begun a process of the forced dismissal of 900 employees due to quarantine restrictions. This was reported by the UIA press service.
According to UIA President Evhen Dykhne, due to the introduction of quarantine for regular passenger air travel in March, UIA’s work was almost stopped.
“Now the company’s management is taking all possible measures to reduce costs and generate income from single flights. Our goal is to preserve the company and key personnel, in particular flight crews. Unfortunately, a significant decrease in the airline’s activities resulted in a forced reduction of 900 UIA highly professional employees,” Dykhne added.
He noted that the company is preparing to implement a business strategy aimed at resuming flights.
According to UIA forecasts, after the restoration of operating activities, the airline’s passenger flow will decrease by approximately 46% to 1.9 million passengers (of which 0.986 million has already been transported from the beginning of 2020 to the lockdown).
The company plans to carry out international mid-range point-to-point flights, as well as restore domestic flights by April 2021. At the next stage starting from April 2021, the company plans to restore its minimum international network.
In order to work effectively after a pandemic, UIA introduces changes, namely, it will simplify the tariff policy, reduce the capacity of business class stores, increase the share of direct sales through the website, and introduce a full cycle service on the website, which will allow passengers to make changes to their reservations on their own.
FM Kuleba: No full-fledged resumption of international air traffic is expected this summer.
