Ukrainian exports dropped by 6.5% in the first 5 months of 2020.
Imports fell 14.4% making the negative balance to decrease to USD 637 million.
“This is the only positive part in trade statistics,” Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, Trade Representative of Ukraine wrote on Facebook.
Taras Kachka indicated most profitable export goods despite the crisis, namely, sunflower oil (+ 420 million last year and USD 2.3 billion in revenue), barley (+ USD 185 million compared to last year), wheat (+100 million and 1.074 billion revenue), iron ore (+ USD 82 million and 1.5 billion revenue) – which is a sad statistic, because the largest drop in flat metal products totals USD 225 million), turbines (+ USD 66.5 million and revenue growth almost doubled), nitrogen fertilizers (+ USD 61 million and export growth at 2 and a half times compared with last year), meal (+ USD 44 million), trams ( + USD 43 million), rapeseed oil (+ 27 million, revenue growth 17 times), electricity (+ USD 20 million).
