Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport (Zhuliany) canceled all international flights on June 16, announcing this at midnight, a few hours before departures.
This was reported on the airport’s official Facebook page.
The decision was explained by the Cabinet’s resolution which prohibits international flights from cities with a high COVID-19 incidence rate (like Kyiv).
Cabinet Decision No.392 does not allow cities with a high incidence rate to launch international flights until June 22.
Passengers were informed of such a decision less than a day before departure.
“Kyiv International Airport does not operate regular international passenger flights until 3:00 a.m. June 17, 2020 due to extension of the COVID-19 quarantine in Kyiv, according to the decision No. 392 by Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated May 20,2020,” the message reads.
In connection with this situation, the airport advised passengers to “closely monitor the flight schedule and clarify information with airline representatives.”
At the same time, the airport has not canceled domestic flights to Uzhhorod and Zaporizhzhia.
