Over 395,000 Ukrainians become unemployed during quarantine period

During the quarantine period, from March to July 2020, more than 395,000 Ukrainians became unemployed, and more than 222,000 people got new jobs. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy.

Since the beginning of the year more than 370,000 citizens got new jobs, of which 46% –  in agriculture, 14% – in the processing industry and 13% – in trade.

As of August 3, employers submitted more than 215,700 applications for social assistance under the partial unemployment program, of which more than 188,000 were submitted by individual entrepreneurs.

Through employment centers, the state managed to provide payments and save jobs for more than 357,000 people, of which 174,500 are sole proprietors.

Kharkiv, Lviv, Donetsk, Sumy and Chernivtsi regions are leaders in the number of applications submitted by entrepreneurs.
