Health Minister Maksym Stepanov said that Ukraine expected the second wave of coronavirus in late autumn. He said this during his briefing held on August 11.

He predicted that the second wave of coronavirus will coincide with the flu epidemic.

“We thought that we would have the so-called second wave – a significant increase in patients – somewhere in October or November,” Stepanov said.

The minister noted that hospitals for second wave have been prepared in Ukraine, they are designed for about 10,000 patients.

He also said that the health ministry is trying to equip and provide oxygen to all hospitals as quickly as possible, as well as to increase the number of beds to 2,500.
