Ukraine reduces public debt by almost UAH 17 bn

Ukraine aggregate state and state guaranteed debt in national currency decreased by UAH 16.9 billion in August to UAH 2,338.18 billion. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance.

The total state and state-guaranteed debt of Ukraine in national currency decreased by UAH 16.9 billion in August 2020 and amounted to UAH 2,338.18 billion. At the same time, the public debt amounted to UAH 2,060.74 billion, down by UAH 11.8 billion, mainly due to a decrease in domestic government bonds. The government-guaranteed debt decreased by UAH 5.1 billion, mainly due to a decrease in debt to the International Monetary Fund.

According to the results of the Q2 of 2020, the debt-to-GDP ratio amounted to 50.8%, while public and publicly guaranteed debt to GDP was 57.6%.
