US patrol boats class “Island” will arrive in Ukraine during the first half of 2021. Consequently, the Ukrainian Navy will have a division of five boats of this class. This was announced by the commander of the Ukrainian Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa in an interview with Radio Liberty.
Currently, the boats are undergoing maintenance and re-equipment in the United States, and in January Ukrainian crews are sent to Baltimore, where additional training will be carried out. According to Neizhpapa, the boats will arrive during the first half of the year, and by the end of 2021 they will acquire all the capabilities.
In addition, the commander of the Navy said that a contract has already been signed for the construction of American Mark 6 boats for Ukraine.
