About 80% of single people or single elderly couples live below the poverty line. This was announced at the Ukrainian Pension Forum by a professor at the Chebotarev Institute of Gerontology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Vera Chaikovskaya.
According to her, 90% of pensioners are unable to pay for medical services: medicines, treatment, hospitalization. Every third elderly person does not seek medical help while having 5-6 chronic diseases.
