The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has begun consideration of the case on the possible violation by 18 gas distribution companies (which belong to oligarch Dmytro Firtash) of the law “On the Protection of Economic Competition”. This is reported by the AMCU press office.

In particular, it is about 18 enterprises: Sumygas, Zaporizhgaz, Chernihivgaz, Dnipropetrovskgaz, Lvivgaz, Hmelnytskgaz, Krivorizhgaz, Tysmenytsagaz, Mykolaivgaz, Kyivoblgaz, Ivano-Frankivskgaz, Rivnegaz, Dniprogas, Zakarpatgaz, Chernivtsygaz, Kharkivmis’kgaz, Zhytomyrgaz, Kharkivgaz.

According to the report, the British citizen David Eton Howard Brown has been appointed as the chairperson of the supervisory board in all companies without obtaining the relevant permission of the AMCU, which is the violation of the law. It gives reason to conclude that all these companies are, in fact, the one business entity, and such concentrations can cause negative consequences in the form of monopolization of the market, abuse of a monopoly position, restriction of competition in the market.
