Starting next year, among the existing Oscar nominations there will be a new one – for the best popular film. About this informs Vanity Fair.
As it became known, the 91st Oscar ceremony of 2019 will be added with new nomination «Outstanding popular film».
It is noted that the criteria for nomination for a new nomination will be determined in the near future.
«Academy President John Bailey and C.E.O. Dawn Hudson announced three key changes: reduction of the telecast to three hours, establishment of an earlier date for the ceremony itself and, most importantly, addition of a new category for outstanding achievements in the popular film. This is the first time that a new category has been announced since 2001, when the nomination for the best animated film was added to the list of awards», report said
Recall that the next award ceremony will be held on February 24th, 2019 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
