“Available drugs” will be dispensed by electronic prescription

Starting from April 1, doctors will issuing e-prescriptions for the medicines under “Available drugs” program.

“Available drugs” is now even more accessible – from today, the e-prescription will allow patients to receive the medicines they need at any pharmacy. The program was taken under control of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU). This change transforms the entire mechanism of the program, in particular – patients who use it, will receive a prescription for medications in a completely different format. From now there are no more unreadable papers that can be lost,” the acting head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Ulana Suprun reported on Facebook.

She said that an SMS with a code would be sent to the patient’s mobile phone in order to be shown at the pharmacy, participating in the program. Using this code, pharmacist will find doctor’s electronic prescription.

In addition, now patients are not ‘tied’ to a pharmacy in the same area where they got the prescription. According to Suprun, “Available drugs” are available for each patient in each pharmacy that has an agreement with NHSU, wherever it is located. The total number of such pharmacies is 5024, and it is continue to grow.
