Avakov: Eight presidential candidates ask police to provide protection

Eight candidates for the presidency of Ukraine have appealed to the police to ensure their protection, 112 Ukraine reports.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov during the coordination meeting of the heads of law enforcement agencies said that since the start of the presidential race, the police have already opened 61 criminal cases.
“We are working to ensure the protection of candidates for the presidency of Ukraine. Currently, eight candidates have turned to NP with such a request,” he noted.
Also, the Minister of Internal Affairs added that all personnel are being trained in order to ensure an effective response to cases of violation of electoral rights.
“We provide maximum assistance for official observers’ work. Security in places of temporary residence will also be organized,” noted Avakov.
As The Journalist reported, Iryna Herashchenko announced impossibility of presence of Russian election observers.
