The Ukrainian Armed Forces received 7 lung ventilators devices from the Government of Canada with the assistance of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The ceremony of transfer of equipment was held at the Main Military Clinical Hospital. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza and the Head of UNOPS Office in Ukraine Iryna Sahakyan Vetter took part in it.

The equipment will be used to provide emergency medical care to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The COVID-19 outbreak is a serious test for healthcare systems throughout the world and in Ukraine. We work closely with our partners in Ukraine and around the world to support efforts to prevent a pandemic. With these and many other projects, UNOPS in Ukraine continues to support national and international partners in the areas of procurement in emergency situations, project management and financial management, and are ready to deepen our cooperation in the interests of the people of Ukraine,” Iryna Sahakyan Vetter said.

Defense Minister Andriy Taran thanked the Canadian government for the partnership and noted that the current relations between Canada and Ukraine are an example of how countries help each other in difficult times of trials.
