The new chief military prosecutor, Viktor Chumak, noted that it will take up to three months to reform the structure. He said this during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada committee on law enforcement, Ukrinform reports.
Chumak noted that the term for reforming the military prosecutor’s office will be determined by the prosecutor general, but in fact, three months will be enough to transfer the prosecutor’s office to a specialized prosecutor’s office for countering crimes in the field of national security and defense.
“The military prosecutor’s office will not be reformed immediately, but on the time determined by the order of the prosecutor general. The Prosecutor General determines the terms. Because the whole reform starts on January 1, we should begin to form a new structure in two and a half months,” the chief military prosecutor said.
As The Journalist reported, Military Prosecutor’s Office detained intermediaries trying to bribe Defense Ministry officials.
