Chief Military Prosecutor Viktor Chumak believes that new evidence on case of the Ilovaisk tragedy can be obtained, which will help greatly in the investigation. He said this on the air of Ukrainian radio.
Chumak noted that the Ilovaisk case was not closed, but was in the production process and new evidence obtained will help the investigation.
“People who can testify about the Ilovaisk tragedy have occupied or still hold fairly high positions. Previously, they simply refused to attend interrogations. I think that now they will calmly come to interrogations and tell everything happened during the planning and development of events in Ilovaisk,” the military prosecutor said.
Chumak also noted the need to complete the investigation, and first of all to collect all the evidence.
“Everyone, of course, wants to put guilty persons in jail, but there must be a clear legal qualification of these actions first,” the deputy prosecutor general added.
