The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reports on accelerating global warming, BBC reports.

To WMO, the five-year period from 2014 to 2019 is the warmest in the history of records.

Sea level rise has accelerating significantly over the same period, as carbon dioxide emissions have reached new highs. The amount of gas going into the atmosphere between 2015 and 2019 growing by 20% compared with the previous five years.

WMO urges to step up efforts to reduce gas emissions immediately.

The organization is also concerned about an abrupt decline in the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets, which may also exacerbate future sea level rise.

As The Journalist reported, Ukraine joins Global Climate Strike.
