Ukrainian authorities respond to the COVID-19 spread by tightening quarantine measures. Kyiv and several other cities halted public transport since March 23. As part of the nationwide quarantine, the number of passengers in trolleybuses, trams, buses, and minibuses was limited to 10 people. In a number of cities, pensioners’public transportation privileges were temporarily canceled (older adults are at higher risk for COVID-19).
Kyiv: From March 23, only passengers who have special passes will be able to use public transport in the capital. Such passes will be issued to employees of strategic facilities and enterprises vital for the city, to the rescuers, medical workers, maintenance staff of food stores and pharmacies. From March 23, passengers without passes are not allowed to use public transport until the quarantine regime ends.
Chernivtsi: An emergency situation mode was introduced in oblast, and therefore the work of public transport is completely halted. All city public transport routes have been canceled in the city, except for a few trolleybuses travel with special signs. Only doctors, law enforcement officers, rescuers, and employees of communal enterprises who have special passes.
Ternopil: Employees of public utilities and emergency services, doctors and employees of enterprises who provide activity vital for the city, will be able to use public transport (routes No. 1A, 5A, 6, 8, 23, 25, 35 and trolleybuses No. 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11). Each such vehicle will be marked with special sign.
Cherkasy: Trolleybuses with the “Red Cross” sign will transport doctors, public utilities and emergency workers, and employees of enterprises with a continuous production cycle. All above passengers are required to wear masks and gloves.
Uzhhorod and Mukachevo: Public transport in Uzhgorod Mukachevo, Lutsk and Novovolynsk was completely halted.
