Court allowed Saakashvili to run for parliament

On June 21, the Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court has considered a lawsuit filed by the leader of the Movement of New Forces party, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, about establishing the fact of his residence in Ukraine so as to register him as an MP candidate in the early elections, Ukrinform reports.

“The court has issued a fair ruling regarding my ability to participate in parliamentary elections. I’m one step closer to victory,” Saakashvili said.

Saakashvili posted a video from the courtroom on his Facebook page.

“I lived in Ukraine for more than 13 years, studied in Ukraine, received a diploma, served urgently in Ukraine for two years, participated in Maidan protests and was part of the government, and now with my team I want to help President Zelensky to fight corruption in Ukraine,” Saakashvili said.

After the court decision, he can live and work in any country of the European Union, and now in Ukraine.
