Today, on April 8, a large-scale special operation “Pirates” started throughout the country, which will last until the end of the month. The main objective of the operation is to increase attention to countering crimes in the field of copyright. This is reported by the press service of National Police.

“We must learn to respect intellectual work, because at first glance, watching a videotape on a pirate resource does not pose a threat to the security of society, but at the same time such actions provoke intruders to bypass the law to violate the rights of other citizens whose property these tapes are. Therefore, the culture of paying for copyright video and audio content online should be developed in Ukraine,” said Serhii Demedyuk, head of the Cyber Police Department.

According to the head of the Department, pirates are not interested in providing citizens with free access to watching video. Their main goal is to get money for placing advertisements on pirated resources.

Such earnings can start from $ 500 per month from one site.

Since the beginning of 2019, 100 pirated online cinemas have already ceased operations.
