The Easter basket in Ukraine has risen in price by 5.1% to UAH 532 over the year, the press service of the National Scientific Centre “Institute of Agrarian Economics” reported, citing the Director of the Institute Yuriy Lupenko.
It is noted that this year, traditional Easter cake, eggs, homemade sausage, pork, lard, butter, soft and hard cheese, horseradish and salt will cost Ukrainians about UAH 26, or 5.1% more than last year, when the minimum set of products cost UAH 506.
The cost of the main component of the Easter basket – Easter cake – will cost about UAH 85 per 1 kg. At the same time, ready-made Easter cake will be even more expensive in shops and supermarkets.
The expert noted that the rising cost of Easter cake caused by to two factors.
“On the one hand, this is a rise in the cost of milk, butter, flour, raisins, on the other, an increase in the cost of energy for bakeries,” Lupenko explained.
