First rotary parking to be built in Kyiv

Rotor parking about UAH 3.6 million worth will be constructed in Podil in Kyiv.

The first rotary (automatic) parking lot will be constructed in Kyiv. Kyiv officials promised to install back in May 2017 in the courtyard of the city council at Khreshchatyk St, 36. Fifteen meters high automatic parking has not been constructed for all the past years since it was promised first.

“We planned to install rotary parking in the Q1 of 2020, but not in the courtyard of the City Council, but on the parking area of ​​the Zhytniy Market, it has access to power. The rotary parking was purchased several years ago for budgetary funds. It is completely new and unassembled and was stored on the territory of one of the utilities, under protection. I do not know why it was not installed before. Now we have chosen more crowded location in Kyiv – Podil. Nearby are several business centers, offices, shops, and a market, thus, it should be in demand here,” Dmytro Rakhmatullin, deputy director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration, said.

The Parking Inspectorate says that everyone can use the automatic parking. It demands a powerful foundation with a depth of one and a half meters in order to be installed.

“The experiment that our colleagues started three years ago should be completed. The first mechanical parking will be managed by the Zhitniy Market utility company. Parking will be transferred to its balance from the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration. Rotary parking is designed for 12 cars, but occupies area equals to only two and a half parking spaces. That is, it holds 12 cars instead of two cars. The cost of one hour of parking will most likely vary from UAH 7 or UAH 10,” Rakhmatullin said.
