According to the Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine – Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko, the virology laboratory extracted blood samples from all people died from pneumonia to find out whether coronavirus caused death, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“We’ve made changes to the standards for the provision of medical care: now the sectional material is being extracted from everyone who died of pneumonia and transferred to the virology laboratory for further examination,” Liashko said.
According to him, at the moment, all people with coronavirus symptoms are being tested for COVID-19.
“The most critical are the first three symptoms: fever, coughing and shortness of breath,” the deputy minister emphasized.
At the same time, material is also taken from people who contacted Covid-19 patients, people with coronavirus disease, and people who were abroad and who have coronavirus symptoms.
Liashko added that people who shown coronavirus symptoms undergo PCR testing, as well as 2 times after the disease receded to confirm recovery.
“Today, we carried out more than 30,000 studies, of which 12,000 have been made to people with suspicion of Covid-19. The rest of them were carried out to determine recovery or to confirm the disease,” Liashko summed up.
