Yana Prymachenko: My volunteer activity started when my husband went to the East, and he needed a thermal imager (VIDEO)

In «Journalist» studio, Iryna Khevpa talked with Prymachenko’s spouse. In connection with the events that took place in our state in 2014, Dmytro became one of the first to declare his desire to voluntarily defend his country in the east of Ukraine, and later he became a co-founder of the Kyiv City Union of Veterans of the ATO. His wife Yana Prymachenko decided to support her husband and became a volunteer to help not only him, but also other Ukrainian defenders.

«When my husband said that he was going east, I could not say anything. Of course, it was difficult for me, because I stayed with two children. My daughter was not yet 3 years old, and my son was a year old. But I have such a position: there is Ukraine and who, if not we, should protect it. If Dmytro did not go, I think I would have gone», the military’s wife remembered.

To become a volunteer for a woman was prompted by the circumstances in which her husband found himself, and subsequently also relatives and friends.

«Dmytro was sent to the Luhansk region. He calls: «We are in the field, there is nothing to eat». And then he said that he needed a thermal imager. I did not know then what it is, how much it might cost, I think somewhere around 20 thousand UAH. When I looked at the prices: a beautiful night vision device – 75 thousand UAH. This sum is rather big. It is difficult to assemble to one person. I began to call friends and acquaintances. We bought this thermal imager, passed the products, and this all started. Next, the defenders needed a good uniform, shoes, body armor, helmets. At that time, almost nothing was in the army. Then many of my friends and acquaintances went east, my brother also volunteered. Then people I do not even know began to find me through Facebook. They wrote what they needed. I wanted to help, because I understood that this would save someone’s life», Yana Prymachenko said.

In addition, the woman said that at the moment with her husband is actively engaged in supporting the wounded, as well as the military, having various injuries.
