Over the past four years, the ratio of average wages in Poland, which is the main direction of labor migration, and in Ukraine decreased from 4.5 times to 2.7 times. This is stated in the new report on financial stability by the National Bank of Ukraine.
The NBU believes that the differences has decreased due to the high growth rates of salaries in Ukraine, as well as the current strengthening of the Ukrainian national currency.
Therefore, from the middle of 2018, the pace of labor emigration from Ukraine and the increase in wages from abroad have slowed down. According to the NBU, in the H1 of 2019, Ukrainians working abroad received 19.1% of all salaries.
According to the State Statistics Service, the average salary in Ukraine in October 2019 amounted to UAH 10,727.
