Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 5% in 2020

The growth of consumer prices in Ukraine in 2020 accelerated to 5% from 4.1% in 2019, the press service of the NBU reports.

During the year, inflation was mainly below the target range of 5% ± 1 percentage point, which was determined by the Basic Principles of Monetary Policy of the National Bank for 2020 and the medium term. At the end of the year, it reached the center point of the target range.

Prices for processed food products increased by 5.2% over the year. Raw food prices rose 4.1% year-on-year in December. In general, non-food products rose in price by 1.6% over the year. At the same time, the rate of falling prices for clothing and footwear deepened.

The cost of services at the end of the year increased by 6.9%, slightly accelerating. The growth of administratively regulated prices at the end of the year was 9.9%.
