Institute of National Memory appealed to return old names to Bandera and Shukhevych Avenues in Kyiv

The Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance appealed the decision of the Kyiv Regional Administrative Court to overturn the Kyiv City Council decisions on renaming Moscow and Vatutin Avenues in honor of Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych. It is reported by Radio Liberty.

According to the lawyer of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Serhii Riabenko, all the documents regarding the justification for contesting the indicated decision were submitted to the court.

Recall, on July 7, 2016, the City Council renamed Moscow Avenue into Stepan Bandera Avenue. Vatutin Avenue was officially renamed Shukhevych Avenue in June 2017. On June 25, 2019, Kyiv Regional Administrative Court overturned the decision on renaming these two Avenues.
