The Japanese government will send to Ukraine Avigan (favipiravir), the antiviral drug used in the treatment of coronavirus. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Japan noted that many countries express their interest in the use of favipiravir, as it facilitates the treatment course.
The clinical trials regarding effectiveness of the drug are currently underway.
“We are grateful to the Government of Japan, which responded fast to our request for help, and Ukraine entered the list of countries that will receive these medicines,” Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
As The Journalist reported, Ukrainian Health Ministry will decide on possible quarantine cancellation no earlier than in 10 days.
