Sentsov’s candidature proposed for Nobel Peace Prize

Verkhovna Rada adopted draft resolution No. 9040, through which it appealed to Norwegian Nobel Committee to nominate Oleg Sentsov for Nobel Peace Prize. The initiative was supported by 245 people’s deputies reports 112.Ukraine.

«Given the courageous behavior of Oleg Sentsov, who has been illegally detained in the Russian Federation for 4 years, for displaying a heroic non-violent protest against the illegal occupation by the Russian Federation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, city of Sevastopol and certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, for upholding human rights, for readiness to sacrifice their lives for the sake of others’ freedom, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine nominates Oleg Sentsov for Nobel Peace Prize», statement says.

Let’s remind that Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike on May 14, 2018. The main requirement is to release Ukrainians who became political prisoners of Kremlin (the list of their names were announced in the statement).

Earlier Journalist reported that Sentsov was nominated for the European Parliament Sakharov prize.
