The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak has noted that the number of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine would not be cut, with their number to be reduced “to the optimum,” Radio Liberty reports.
“I have already given the appropriate instructions; the relevant structures are working in order to bring the number of military units to the optimum. Of course, this will be done with no reducing combat effectiveness or lowering the operational status as of responding to the threats and challenges faced by the State,” said the Chief of the General Staff.
The Chief of the General Staff noted that the cuts in forces are not the case yet.
“I raised the problem, set the task to study it and gave an order to report me back on possible solutions. Perhaps, possible harmonization of the military unit staff to make it more optimal. It is not a question of “to reducing the military units”. If they were expanded, it means that it was caused by certain calculations. Therefore, at the moment this question is being justified and studied. The process is under way,” he notes.
As The Journalist reported, Chief of the General Staff Khomchak will not participate in TCG talks.
