Kyiv has purchased 122 apartments for Kyivan orphans and children, deprived of parental care, of which 110 apartments were purchased for the cost of the city budget, and another 12 – for the state subvention.
This was stated by the Head of the Service for Children and Families of the Kyiv City State Administration (KSCA) Valeriy Tantsyura, the press service of the KSCA reports.
According to Tantsyura, if such a trend persists in the capital, it will be possible to liquidate the privileged line of orphans for 2-3 years.
«A social hostel and three new family-type children’s homes will be opened for orphans until the end of the year; and another two are being prepared for the opening,» – Tantsyura said.
Up to 70 children are adopted annually in Kyiv, but mostly they are healthy children, up to 10 years old. About 10% of children continue to be in orphanages, because they have a disability, deviant behavior [deviant behavior is a stable behavior of the person, deviating from the generally accepted, most widespread and established social norms – ed.], or belong to family groups of 3 to 7 brothers and sisters, whom it is forbidden to disconnect by the law.
