Number of Donbas Conflict victims exceeds 40,000

As of December 31, 2018, the number of victims of the conflict in Donbas ranged from 40,000 up to 43,000, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Office reports, Radio Liberty quotes.

"Out of this number, 12,800-13,000 people died (3,320 civilians, including 298 passengers of downed MH17 on July 17, 2014, 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers and 5,500 militants); 27,500-30,000 people were injured (7-9,000 civilians, 9-10,000 Ukrainian soldiers and 12-13,000 militants),” Osnat Lubrani, the Head of UN Office said.

According to the UN, during the conflict in total 25-26% of the victims are civilians.
