Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andriy Kobolev, said that Gazprom could suspend gas transit through Ukraine in 2020, 112.Ukraine reports.
Gazprom has already disrupted trilateral gas talks. According to Kobolev, this happened because the Russian side is playing for time until the political process is complete. After all, if Gazprom will refuse to sign new contract, then it can disable gas transit across Ukraine, as it was done twice: in Jan 2006 and 2009.
Kobolev noted that the Ukrainian side will defend its position and insist on transparent negotiations that may be understood by European partners.
