The Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko on the air of Ukrainian Radio said that in the near future a new type of coronavirus test – enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay – will be launched in Ukraine.
According to Liashko, enzyme immunoassay will significantly expand testing in Ukraine, since ELISA testing is much more affordable, unlike PCR testing.
“And this means the expansion of test groups,” Liashko said.
Liashko added that Ukraine will also increase the number of polymerase chain reaction devices.
The chief sanitary doctor noted that now Ukraine tests 10,000 samples daily.
“At the weekend, we test 5,000 each, as people do not apply for test and wait until Monday. And I would like to urge them do not wait and to call the family doctor or ambulance if symptoms occur,” Liashko said.
