The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution on the celebration of memorable dates and anniversaries in 2020.

Some 305 deputies from 364 registered in the session hall voted for this decision.

So, in 2020 the state will selebrate the next events:

1075 years since the beginning of the reign of Princess Olga (945);

310 years since the adoption of the Constitution of Philip Orlik (April 16, 1710);

250 years since the founding of the city of Zaporizhzhia (1770).

30 years from the date of the declaration of the State Sovereignty of Ukraine (July 16, 1990);

30 years since the start of the Student Revolution on granite (October 10, 1990).

560 years since the birth of a political and statesman, protector of the Orthodox Church Konstantin Ostrozhsky (1460-1530);

March 5 – the 150th anniversary of the birth of the scientist in the field of bridge construction and electric welding, the founder and first head of the Institute of Electric Welding of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the hero of socialist labor, academician and vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR Evhen Paton (1870-1953);

May 15 – the 175th anniversary of the birth of the scientist, immunologist and microbiologist, Nobel laureate Ilya Mechnykov (1845-1916);

December 25 – the 125th anniversary of the birth of the composer, choir conductor Hrihoriy Veriovka (1895-1964);

75 years since the release of prisoners from the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz (January 27, 1945);

75 years since the end of World War II (September 2, 1945);

75 years since the founding of the United Nations and the membership of the Ukrainian SSR in the UN (October 24, 1945).
